The SVRI Forum 2026 Programme is Live

The SVRI Forum is the world’s largest abstract-driven conference dedicated to preventing and responding to violence against women and violence against children. This year, it is co-hosted by the SVRI and the Prevention Collective, comprised of the UN Joint Programme on Gender-Based Violence Prevention in Southeast Asia, implemented by UN Women and UNFPA, and the Southeast Asia GBV Prevention Platform, both supported by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Together, we bring researchers, practitioners, policymakers, donors and activists from around the world into one space.
This year’s programme showcases the latest evidence from 80 countries through more than 650 presentations, 23 pre-conference workshops and a growing number of participant-driven events. It reflects the work of researchers and practitioners who are closest to, and often part of, the communities most affected by violence, the evidence they are generating, and the questions they are working to answer.
From 5 to 9 October, we will gather in Bangkok to share evidence, strengthen partnerships and turn knowledge into action that helps prevent violence and improve lives.

The Abstract-Driven Programme
At the core of the Forum lies the abstract-driven programme. Built from 2,186 submitted abstracts, it features more than 650 presentations, 221 oral, 100 four-minute oral and 335 posters, across all seven Forum themes over three of the Forum’s five days.
What people are bringing this year gives a clear sense of where the field is heading. Technology-facilitated gender-based violence runs strongly through the programme, spanning online child sexual abuse, image-based abuse, digital harms and the questions now being raised by artificial intelligence. So too does the question of what prevents violence and how to expand what works, anchored by a plenary on proven prevention programmes.
Intimate partner violence is woven throughout, alongside a growing body of research on men, boys and the prevention of perpetration, and dedicated sessions on femicide and lethality. Violence against children and young people features prominently as well, and a distinctive session explores the role of sport in preventing violence, drawing on rugby programmes in the Pacific.
Much of this work comes from researchers and practitioners across the majority world, whose leadership continues to shape the evidence and how the field understands prevention and response.
Beyond the Abstract-Driven Sessions
Some of the best of the Forum happens between and around the sessions. The week begins with 23 pre-conference workshops to build skills, try new methods and learn from each other. Participant-driven events run throughout the week and are central to the final day, giving delegates room to share their own expertise and experience.
New for 2026 is the SVRI Forum Salon, a curated programme of films, multimedia and facilitated conversations across eight themed sessions, taking place during the day and early evenings. The exhibition hub is where people meet colleagues, find new ideas and connect with organisations working across the field. And there will be plenty of time to relax together from the welcome event to the gala dinner, with music, dancing and good food along the way.
Wellness & Care
Looking after one another has always been part of the SVRI Forum. This work can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be emotionally demanding. Together with our partners, Space Bangkok and me too. International, we will offer counselling, daily wellness activities, and time to pause and look after ourselves through the week. The Survivor Sanctuary, in our Brave Room, will provide a quiet, supportive space for survivors.
We are also committed to making the Forum as accessible and inclusive as possible. Working with the venue and our partners, we have sought to reduce barriers to participation and provide disability accommodations where possible, so that more people can fully engage in the conversations, learning and connections that make the Forum special.
We want people to leave the Forum with new ideas and connections, knowing they were held by a community that understands this work.
